Morning Devotion Thoughts

Uncle Keir Risley spoke to us about rivers this month. We learned that there was a river that flowed in Eden and how it branched off into 4 more rivers. Ecclesiastes 1:5-7 tells us that the rivers run into the sea, but the sea doesn't fill up, as we know, because of evaporation. Isaiah 55:8 says God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours - He created things for a specific purpose. Just as evaporation works and water from rivers is evaporated into the clouds, our thinking needs to be higher. In v. 10, the water watered the earth, and this resembles His word that waters us. Later, Uncle Keir brought us to 2 Kings 5:1-10, which is the story of a mighty man who became a leper. The only way he could become clean was to wash in the Jordan seven times. He had to put aside his pride and dip himself seven times into a river that was filthy when he could have found a cleaner river and done the same thing. God wants us to do exactly what He says, even though what He may ask of us could be hard. In his final devotion, we learned about the River of Life. Ezekiel 47:4-5, 8 talks about a river that will come out of the temple after the earthquake, and if you want to get to the temple, you will have to walk through this river. Finally, in Revelation 22:1-2 we found that not only will there be the River of Life that comes out of the throne of God, but the tree of life is on each side of the river talking about Jesus Christ, and the nations will also be healed. This shows us that Jesus will be king, and all nations will benefit from it if we walk through the river.
