Morning Devotion Thoughts
In the month of December, we explored Mount Sinai and the deeper lessons behind the Ten Commandments. Uncle Caleb Lawrence spoke to us about how we are called to be special in God's future nation, so we can give Him glory, just as the children of Israel were brought out of Egypt and God saved them. In Exodus 19:8, the children of Israel say, "All that the LORD hath spoken we will do." This is a lesson for us to do what God tells us to do and let Him guide us. Moses received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. Uncle Caleb explained to us that the first four commandments are about our relationship with our Creator, while the next five commandments are centered around how we interact with one another. The final tenth commandment is about our own hearts and how we shouldn't covet other people and their possessions. Colossians 3:1-5 says, "If ye be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." Instead of wanting other peoples' things, we are told to love God, not the things of this world. We can apply these lessons to our lives by being obedient and doing what God tells us to do. We are called to obey God, even when it's hard. We need to trust that God will guide us in our lives.
