Road hockey at recess!
Devotional Message
For the month of September, we had many different uncles come in to give us devotions. Uncle Gerry started off our school year by talking to us about the importance of the acronym CHC. Consideration is the first letter of our acronym. It means to think deeply about something or someone and put others' needs above your own. In Matthew 7:24-25, the wise man considered where he was going to build his house, and chose the rock. Our next letter is "H," which stands for Honesty. Honesty means to tell the truth. One small lie can turn into many big lies. Finally, Commitment. Commitment is saying you will do something, sticking to it and acting on your word. A good verse to remind us about the importance of commitment is 1 Kings 8:61 which says "And may your hearts be fully committed to the LORD our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time." Uncle Stephen Macfarlane taught us about the importance of being like a dove. Being like a dove means to be gentle and soft, as well as have faith in God and seek peace. "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." John 16:33.

Information
It is looking like we will not be competing with other schools in cross country running again. However, similar to 2 years ago we will have an in-house cross country meet (Oct. 22nd). CHC will have their meet at bro. Scott and sis. Hayley’s house (1689 Concession 10 West, Flamborough). The plan, God willing: 10:30 arrival // 10:45 - 11:15 walk of circuit // 11:30 am race all ages start (gr. 2’s are welcome to participate)
Swimming begins Tuesday, October 5th: lessons run for 6 weeks ending November 9th at the Westmount Pool 2:00-2:45pm. Transportation is the parents’ responsibility, please make your own arrangements to have your child taken from CHC at 1:30pm, transported to the pool and picked up in the change room at 3:00pm. Students are to wear regular school uniforms on swim days and change into bathing suits at the pool. Remember towels and goggles (if used). This is for gr.1-8 and is required as part of the physical education curriculum provided at CHC.
We continue to ask that parents and other visitors do not enter the school during school hours. Please contact Bro. Josh Hodge at josh.hodge@heritagecollege.ca if you would like to make an appointment for entering the school for any reason.
Brantwood Farms
We will leave CHC at 12:00pm, after eating lunch in our classrooms; rides to the farm are parents’ responsibility. Dismissal will be from Brantwood Farms at 3:00pm. If your child is not coming to the farm, pick them up at CHC before 12:00pm; if parents are not coming on the trip, pick up your child at 3:00pm at the farm – thank you! Students are to wear gym uniforms for the whole day, wear appropriate outerwear for the weather, it can be cool and muddy! Each student to bring their own bag for apples, corn etc. e.g., grocery bag.
Fundraising
It’s time to start planning the annual CHC banquet! Last year’s banquet was a huge success despite changes to our traditional format! This year will look similar to last year’s as it will again be an online fundraising effort! We are hoping to have an online zoom event as well as some online purchasing options. An email will be circulated regarding a parent brainstorming meeting. Please direct any ideas or possible contributions that you may have to sister Jessica Fish.
