This week we looked at Enoch, who some people believe was taken to heaven alive because he was “translated” to not see death. Genesis 5:24 reads, “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” But what does it really mean to walk with God? In Psalm 86:11 it says, “Teach me thy way, O Yahweh; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.” When we “walk” with God, we are walking in His truth by doing His will. In 1 John 1:5-7, it says that if we walk in the light of Christ, then we will have fellowship with God. Enoch knew God’s truth and stood up for it so he “walked” in fellowship with God. Lamech would have been alive during the life of Enoch and in Genesis 4:23-24, Lamech boasts that he had killed a man and that God would avenge him just like Cain had been. Enoch stood up for God’s truth and Lamech probably sought after him, but God was able to hide him. In Hebrews 11:5 it says, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him…” God has the power to do this, as He hides Jesus in John 8:51,59, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death…Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.”
In Isaiah 57:1-2 it reads, “The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.” These verses can relate to Enoch as well as us today. If we walk with God in His truth and we are ready to stand up and defend that truth, God will protect us during the difficult times that we go through in life.

Swimming begins Wednesday, October 2nd: lessons run for 8 weeks ending November 20th at the Westmount Pool 2:00-2:45pm. Transportation is the parents’ responsibility, please make your own arrangements to have your child taken from CHC at 1:35pm, transported to the pool and picked up in the change room at 3:00pm. Students are to wear regular school uniforms on swim days and change into bathing suits at the pool. Remember towels and goggles (if used). This is for JK-8 and is required as part of the physical education curriculum provided at CHC.
The host of the cross country meet (Oct. 18) was not able to obtain the regular grounds. Thus, they have cancelled the meet until next year. As a result, CHC will have their own meet located at Bro. Scott and Sis. Hayley’s house (1689 Concession 10 West, Flamborough). The plan, God willing: 10:30am arrival // 10:45am - 11:15am walk of circuit // 11:30am race all ages start (gr. 2’s are welcome to participate)
If you have photos from a CHC event, please send them to Brian Alexander at firstname.lastname@example.org. If there are a lot of photos, contact Brian and he’ll send further instructions.
